Since 2003, ScottishDrumming.com has been a resource for professional leadership and education services for pipe band drummers. Over the years the brand name has gained notoriety, and the principals have selectively grown the service to include a quality group of faculty who are respected teachers in the Highland drumming community.
Additional areas of interest were added to the ScottishDrumming.com website including interviews, articles, scores and other general information about the art of Scottish drumming itself. While these are incredibly valuable things to share with the community as a whole, it created a dual and sometimes conflicting purpose for the presence of the site. Partly to advertising the teaching and judging services of the faculty, and partly to promote pipe band drumming as an art.
"We've gotten to the point where getting contributions and quality information for the ScottishDrumming.com site has come into a few perceived conflicts with the portions of the site that advertise teaching and judging services," said Andrew Hoinacki, founder of the organization. "It has come time to create two separate venues so that each can properly serve the community to its fullest potential."
As of the end of August 2010, ScottishDrumming.com has been suspended while undergoing drastic changes into the style and function of an online information resource. It will carry articles, interviews, product reviews, drum scores, images and recordings ... anything that promotes the art and community of Scottish drumming. Several faculty members will remain on staff as quarterly contributors to the new web-zine format, while additional guest contributors will also begin to appear once the site comes back online.
And so we now introduce Scottish Arts Academy ... featuring the same quality educators and more. With the introduction of this new and separate service, it makes way for the inclusion of faculty in other Scottish arts disciplines such as bagpiping and Highland dancing. We will be increasing the faculty size while maintaining the level of quality education we can guarantee from our instructors. Lessons, workshops and advice from our teaching staff are among the best you can receive ... and always delivered with professionalism!
"I'm very excited about the unlimited opportunities in the future of both services," says Hoinacki. "I hope that our past patrons of the teaching and leadership services will continue to enjoy the high caliber of instruction we all strive to provide, that our new patrons of Scottish Arts Academy will come to agree that there is no substitute for professional education, and that the readership of ScottishDrumming.com finds us to be the leading online resource for the Highland pipe band drumming community."
Welcome to Scottish Arts Academy ... the new name in education and leadership ... with the same great service!
